xerxes, some tips when shopping around for a charter boat. Firstly, its quite difficult to get a boat, becuase you're only one person and the boats normally take 4-8+ people. So, the larger, more succesful charter guys will have a list of guys in a similar position as you or often have a small group that don't mind another angler to share the cost. Generally, the larger boats tend to charge more, as they've bigger engine's and thus larger fuel bills. Also, find out what the policy on keeping the fish is. Some charter operators retain all the fish, others let you have one fish per angler and others simply let you take all your fish. Often, but not always, the filleting of your fish is included in the price. Its not fun coming back to harbour with a 60-80kg YF and having no place in your car to put it!! Be prepared!!

http://www.twooceanssportfishing.com/ Vessel is a 30' Butt cat, called OBSESSION, skippered by David. He's a avid fly fisherman and has taken quite a few Yf's on his secret fly!! VERY good skipper, that certainly knows his stuff!! He operates from Simons Town.
Then we have a 33' Lee Cat named ON-LINE, skippered by Mike. I'll get his contact details tommorow. GREAT bloke who is also VERY knowledgable. Also from Simons Town.
Also, Tony on either a 25' Magnum called DRAGON or a 32' Magnum called LADY-GO-DIVER. Drop me a your number and i'll forward his details to him.
http://www.southseasafaris.co.za/ Then there is Allen who skippers his 35' GeeCat called LYNX and Garret who skippers a 30' ButtCat called TYLER. Both boats operate from GordonsBAy. Once again VERY knowledgable GREAT anglers!!

I am planning to be down in the Cape in december holiday for the family and fishing for me. If you do go out give some feedback. If interested then I will like to tie up with some of you guys down there for a offshore trip for tuna etc. Going to Inhaca for ten days 21 June then Shelley in september that why I would like to plan the cape trip for december.

Sorry for the delay, been out fishing!!
Spoke to my buddy at Simons Town. He owns a 33' LeeCat called "On-line" as well as a 20-23' Mono-hull called "RAISER". He charges different rates for the boats, so he'll be able to accomodate almost any charter. He's agreed to give anyone i refer to him a special price. Just tell him you got his details on THIS forum and that Ismail from the vessel "Dr. Fish" refered you. He's a really good skipper and certainly knows his stuff. Very highly recomend him. Dubz, there are NO charter vessels operating in Kalk Bay, doing off-shore charters. The only tuna vessel that regularly fish's from kalk bay is a red deck boat name "GARY". That boat is a commercial tuna vessel, and one of the best guys in the industry. As him being commercial, they're not allowed to do charters. Other than that, the deck-boats are very slow, normally taking well over 6 hours to reach the tuna fishing grounds. They normally stay out for a couple of days at a time.

not to shure i talking about the samething but you should know uncle George his got a few fishing vessels there and he normal have day trips for fishing in the bay and also cpe point if there is snoek and yellow tail....the best boat to go on a the smaller one Star Life ...it doesnt roll as much as the bigger boats....

Dubz, i know EXACTLY what you're talking about. Those guys are huge rip-off's. Rather get yourself a "site" on a recreational boat. You'll catch much more fish and have a far more pleasant experience.
The week-end trips the Kalk Bay boats do is generally doomed to failure. They take a group of "trippers" out and make one or two anchors on overfished reefs. They make their money off charging you, so they're not bothered about getting you onto good fish. They keep the good spots for in the week, when their commercial crew in onboard, becuase THATS how they make their money!!
