I'm fairly new to offshore fishing and have only had my boat for about a year now. Although I have all the equipment and I'm keen angler who has fished most of his life, my strike rate has been pretty poor with loads of blanks. It's basically hit and miss at the moment and I would like some advice if possible from the more experienced guys on the forum.
Im planning a trip to Richards Bay this weekend (18 - 20 Nov 16) and hoping to cash in on some of the great yellow fin tuna being caught as the season starts. I'm from Durban, so I don't know the area at all, but plan to launch from the Richards Bay Ski Boat club. I only have one motor and fairly small boat, so I can't go out more than 5Nm to sea and preferably not further than 10Nm along the coast.
QUESTIONS:
1. Should I head North or South out the harbour mouth
2. Where can I get live bait?
3. What inshore waypoints or reefs should I focus my attention on?
4. Any waypoints you guys are willing to share would be greatly appreciated
5. What should be my strategy at these spots be: trolling, live bait drifting? Chunking?
6. Should I even bother with jigging or using poppers?
