New keepnets for conventional

It's all a bit of a jumble at the moment. Currently conventional bank angling will remain as is but more and more provinces are adding conservation procedures to the general angling facet.
Unhooking mats are already compulsory in many provinces and I believe will see their way into many more.
Soft landing net won't work with you current 2 hook trace as the 2nd hook will always foul up.
There will be a new facet of angling seeing the light an SA Bank Angling Federation is pushing to get it accepted for official world champs and international matches for the awarding of national colours to anglers.
It will be feeder fishing which is possibly the biggest facet of angling in Europe. In this facet there will be only 1 rod with 1 hook at a time. Knotless landing and knotless keepnets and unhooking mats.
In feeder fishing you will have an allocated sector to fish in and you must hook, play and land your fish in those boundaries.
Your fish will also be weighed every 1-2 hours so your opponents will know exactly what they need to do to beat you but so that fish will be put under less stress.
There is still a lot of practise and development.
To answer the question on the material. 80% or higher shade netting will meet the requirements. If you're going to make a net test it and make sure it is Carp fin proof (dorsal and anal fin stick into anything)

Thanks Enigma, clears up a lot. I was thinking of converting on of my old keepnets. Is there any regulations on the size of the rings etc?

I'm going to convert my old nets as well.
The international Regs state 50cm to allow fish to turn in the net but their comp nets must be 3m long.
I doubt however that we'll go as far as that. I think for now an 80% shaded newt will be fine.
Stitch a webbing strap around the tube you make and insert your current net's rings into it this to keep the net open.
The material used for fishing tackle boxes (Rock and Surf) and for inflatable boats works well for the bottom. If you use a netting the weight of fish on top of each other forces their fins through the net but not the coated canvas. Just remember to make a hole in the bottom to help drain water out (you get brass eyelets you can use to reinforce the hole)
When I get around to converting mine I'll post some pics.

I just bough a couple of kilometers of netting ad pipes etc, etc and have got a guy with an industrial sewing facility to assemble me a whole lot of nets, going to be better.
Going to negotiate with him as to what it will cost to make you the nett, minus rings and lids so you can recycle your old net if you want to.
Wanted to go the full DIY route then had nightmares about my stitching coming loose at a trials and when I lifted my net all my fish were gone so decided to find someone with the right tools for the job.
It's also going to look a lot neater so I can buy just the bag and assemble it with my old parts of my current keepnet
