Hey D-man.

There is no need for a boat there. You simply go in at the main gate and fish away. I have never had to pay and it can be a lot of fun. Try at the bridge side of the site and at the bottom where the water is pumped in from Brandvlei. You should have hordes of fun, just watch out for puffies. We found a 1.5m skin yesterday. an absolute brute!

Good Luck!

Hi Riaan, aka Mr Piercing, I haven't been to Nekkies in a while, what's the place like, not the fishing , but is it safe to take mommy and kiddies there, to cool off while dad goes fishing? Last time I was there I saw a couple of dodgy characters, and it was a bit run down, this was a couple of years ago though so I hope it improved a bit since then. Would be grateful if you can give me your opinion, thanks.

hey ive been to Nekkies a few times, as it was my valley for 10 years. i dont think Nekkies is a family outing venue... lots of people playing loud music from their cars and slurping down a few black labels(mostly on weekends and public holidays)

but as far as fishing goes, i think its fairly safe. might be a few broken glass bottles in the river tho.

your best option will be to take a fishing partner and only focus on them smallies...you can take the family to Kwaggas.

and i dont think nekkies can take a boat, only small inflatables will work there as it get very shallow as some parts...

enjoy. cant wait to go tight there in 3 weeks time!!!

Thanks for the info, what a shame all the nice spots are getting messed up, would have loved to take the family there, oh well back to the drawing board. I don't have a boat for Kwaggas, will a tube do?

mmm havnt fished Kwaggas, but looking at the size of the dam, i would think you gotta be more fit that Schalk Burger::respekt: and have legs like the Hulk toe tube there!
