Namibia 2009 / 10 trip report

Bait:
1/ Sards - but I believe there are two brands in the area, one off course is no good, so please ask the guys before you go, which to get.
2/ White mussle.
The cleaners at the camp collected them fresh at 1 Nam$ each for us.
3/ Octopus you can get in the shallows rocks at low tide.
1/ Sards catch anything.
Keep the flesh to the outside, much faster reaction from the fish.
Big hooks = cob of all sizes
Medium sized hooks = Cob and Steenbras
Small hooks = Galjoen
2/ White musscles, more frequently Steenbras and Galjoen
3/ Occie. mostly steenies.
When the Barbers get too much, cut one in cutlets and hang on for a spotty.
Here is a pick of my typical Sardine blob bait on a 8/0 Denso hook, fished with my Omoto reel. Mostly targeting cob and small sharks.

It is a monster, on road and off road.
We had a hiccup in Rundu:
Stopped at 05H30 at the service station to prepare for the next leg to Vic Falls.
I stripped out the air filter to blow it out with the tyre inflater.
Guess what - no water trap in the compressor line
So I half filled the filter cartridge with water .
No probs - I had a spare and 10 minutes later we were off again, to the amazement of the pomp joggies.
