Hey Leonard

Awesome tackle you have there !!! Im also a big fan of Penn Reels.

Is customs not going to give you hard time for the .22 ? I think it will be OK to take your reels via hand luggage, but the hooks and anything sharp i'm not sure.

Hello L

A good idea is to put your reels in your hand luggage and put the boxes in your luggage just in case some pesky customs official asks to see your bag.

Enjoy the stripers while you are there. They are great fun if you can find them in the rivers. I caught plenty when I was over there. They have stocked them into many of the big lakes and in the heat of the summer they swim up the creeks as these are a source of cooler water.

Best place we caught them was a place called Jackson trace right next to Taladega speedway. We caught them in the rapids on paddletails. Some of the best fishing of my life.

Make the most of it while you are there.

Hiya Lenny

You may want to verify it but I have it on fairly good authority that they will not allow the reels as hand-luggage ,if they have line on./Line ,and especially braid can become a lethal weapon in the wrong hands(think Bruce Willis::S)

. I suggest you try and buy a Multiple-lock-footlocker of sorts ,stash all your tackle into that and lock it before handing it in as luggage.Buy plenty of dropsocks and neoprene reel covers, place reels in those and fold all the boxes flat, as small as they possibly can, that way you will be able to fit more stuff into the locker, just fill any empty spaces with ''bubble-wrap(dont want a scratch on the Sustain's handle now do you), in case you have a bumpy ride.

See you Sardine-time buddy

I was based in Columbus Georgia for 4 years on a golf scholarship. Were some of my best years. Time was spent playing golf, fishing, hunting and trying to track down the odd good looking southern belle.

There are a number of good lakes with rivers in both Georgia and Alabama but the best would be those around Birmingham Alabama. There are a number of the large lakes that they have housing developments on in that area. One then finds the feeder creeks to that impoundment and then move up them until you find the rapids or what the call shoals. Fish often hold up just below or above the rapids.

There are also times when then hold up under the dam walls. This is where the biggest fish are. Tough to catch them on lures as in this instance they are normally keyed in on Shiners - a type of bait fish.

If you ever want to make a trip out there - let me know. One of my best mates lives there and is fishing mad. He would love to take you out on the river.
