Be warned this is a tale of no common sense but lots of impulse and love! If asked the price, I maintain as I do with my fishing tackle, that it only cost R250. My wife seems to accept it so that is good enough
Got my Rangie for R24K in May and she wasn't in great shape. Paint was nasty, interior was a disaster but mechanically she was sweet. Love at first sight though, especially the V8 rumble!
Subsequently had the following done:
- Fitted electronic ignition (Ignitor)
- Repaired fuel tank
- Painted wheels silver, sorted out hanging suspension (to be redone later)
- Repaired the perished dash - but not pretty
- Fitted Hannibal RTT directly to roof including fitting internal braces
- Bought and fitted guide for Campmor Bedouin Awning
- Resprayed entire car in ivory white (my best description - remember I don't choose the curtains at home)
- Fully rubberised interior
- Fitted Ctek Dual / 110AH double battery system with NL monitor
- Fitted Front Runner 6 ammo box top slide with Campmaster 40l
- Re-upholstered the entire interior
- Seats and door panels in khaki bull denim
- Headlining and select panels black
- Covered dash in carpet (well done but not happy with the look)
- Carpetted the centre ridge in black with khaki trim
- FIL built custom centre console in aluminium
- Fitted very expensive new Range Rover lettering (couldn't resist the pull of eBay)
- Fitted Pioneer/Sony 6 speaker system with head unit and amp in console - really thumps - who can say boom boom
- Thought she did not look agressive enough and relented:
- Bought D1 rims - added 275/70/16 BFG AT
- Lifted suspension with Terrafirma 2" lift and added spacers
- Yesterday got the windows tinted 20% and fitted alarm / antihijack and immobiliser
All of the above done by Landy Centre (Steenberg), L&R (Southfield) and Alucab (Ottery), Soundmatch (Access Park) & Andrew (Upholstery)
So whats left?
- Cover dash and console in decent rough grain leather
- Review Spot situation
- Fit spare wheel carrier & hi lift points
- Add caster set to tighten steering
- Looking for snorkel design to fit
- Rocksliders
Then she will be done ... well maybe
Been a long and pretty expensive road but everytime I drive her I have a smile on my face which is priceless!
Below are the before, during and now (as at this morning)- can't wait for summer to tow my KC to Witsand or tease some Bronzies (with cold coolies) at Macassar
