Mmmmmm, LEKKER!

My fiance and I decided to indulge ourselves this afternoon. I'm about to light a fire so that we can make a lekker oxtail potjie. Going to let it cook for a few hours while I jol in the yard with my laaitie. Apparently he tells me he and I are going to play cricket, rugby, soccer and golf today t(((up((. Better start to gooi the burning wine and coke for a bit of energy for all this.

LEKKER!

So what are other Sealiners up to today if they're not fishing?

Phase 1 complete. Now the oxtail must simmer in the red wine for a while...

Potatoes, carrots and stock, slowly simmering. Just the way it should.

Added the mushrooms and allowed to simmer further another hour. Smells great!

The setup.

Took the lid off and boiling off excess fluid. It's going to thicken nicely when it cools. The rice is about to get prepped...

That was pretty good! :) My first oxtail, our first time making potjie with oxtail and a pleasant afternoon.

The meat had a good flavour and was soft. The tomatoes, onion, potatoes and butternut had cooked away forming the sauce. The carrots and mushrooms were cooked soft as well and had taken in some of the flavour. The sauciness complimented the Basmati rice well. A great dish and not bad for our first attempt.

Lyk baie lekker. Oberon trick wat ek by my ma geleer het, so 2 of 3 koppies kwaliteit ertjies by, mcain frozen peas loop mooi, net so 10 minute voor opskep....

Thanks for the tips and comments guys :). Will definitely try out those ertjies sometime. Guess what we're chowing for lunch today...
