Me and my friend want to go fish there just from the bank, I read al the forums about get a Fresh wate lisence first and then a special Doordekraal lisence? Can someone who knows Doordekraal well maybe explain to me where I can get the permits and give a bit information about Doordekraal? New to sealine so help is much needed ^^..:wfish

Strange you didn't get a reply yet, also am a new member and I was at Doordekraal yesterday, will be phoning the municipality later today. I notice only a few weeks left to the end of the season, wonder what they will charge for that. Below I have attached the leaflet the security guard gave me, pretty much explains everything.

I asked him the spots where one could fish, he said there is the 2 spots on the East bank that are clearly marked, left hand side if looking down the dam from the dam wall and most easily accessible and a couple over the other side, near the island; unfortunately here the weeds have overgrown and hidden the spots and Municipality still has to come and cut them back.

The number you need to call for the permit is 021-970 3025

Thank you very much! I've got there and went fishing one day, caught a 4kg nice carp, but the weeds are a bit hectic overgrown! do you maybe know of any popular spots where I can catch bass? I have been to magic forest top dom, but no bass!!^^..

I use to go fish at Door-de-Kraal alot,have seen some very big ones come out but fishing can be very slow.Best to sit thru the night, caught a 18kg carp last year.

The best for bass in the area is probably to get a floattube on Doordekraal and obtain both the permits. Fishing at doordekraal was almost completely banned but I know the folks from http://www.floattubes.co.za/ and their community had a big strugle with the municipality to get them to allow fishing again (thanks for that). Fishing for bass from the bank there is very liited as you can hardly get to any of the good spots and you are NOT allowed to fish from the dam wall (not sure what the reasoning behind this is). All i know is the residents are easy to complain and the municipality seem to prefer their argument so please respect the rules. Besides doordekraal I guess the next best place is probably Mofam unless you know of some local dams in the area? *hint hint nudge nudge*
