Get yourself an oven thermometer that the wife uses for the Turkey. Place that into the pot and watch it! If it gets too hot take the pot off the stove, don't just turn it off. When it cools too much put it back. Start off with the stove low and gradually build it up. Once you see the temp stabilises, turn it up one more notch. Use a soup ladle to mix and then use the same ladle to pour. Don't use a cold spoon.

I must admit, I have only made a few trials so far.

Okay, youre not the first and wont be the last to burn a bit of pastic.A microwave is fine for DIY but you have to get used to the power/heat output so all microwaves are different but its really easy.
Start with about 200ml in a pirex jug.Blast for a minute and half.Give it a good stir and then blast for a minute or so.Get a feel of how long it takes to turn the plastic to clear. After it turns clear I use 20 seconds blasts.Do this until you have the right consistency. After every pour wipe the spout clear with some kitchen paper, this helps alot. Also when you stir the plastisol you will have some on the sides of the jug, before every pour take a knife, run it round the jug and remove this.Keep this aside, after I've finished pouring that colour I normaly throw this back in the jug for another day, recycle, recycle.

Remember add your colour and glitter near the end.First to burn will be the centre of jug at the bottom so when stirring tilt the jug to the side.

Hi There!

Firstly so far all very good advice, you must also remember there are a few Plastisols on the market. Many of them react differently depending on their composition. Rule of thumb however is 250ml in a pyrex jug placed in a 1000w microwave is going to take from cold approximately 5 mins to gel and a maximum of two minutes to reach melt. This can vary by 30% which is a huge margin depending on the brand you use. Colours are also quite easy to control if you remember the darker the quicker they cook / burn. its always adviseable to chuck in a little heat stabilzer at every re-heat. Send me a PM with you e-mail and i will send you instructions that i send with all my plastics.

Cheers
