Ok, I have fished this dam in Kempton Park on and off for the past 4 or so months and it has finally reveale it's well kept secrets....
First off; to the speciman guys, you guys will find this dam very hard, as you can make a feeding spot, but it is rendered useless by the sheer depth of the dam. A massive 20m deep and 30m in some places.
Which brings me on to my next point; LEAVE YOUR TRACES/RIGS WHATEVER YOU USE AT A NORMAL DAM AT HOME...so far only one thing that works is a float and a hook, very simple and very affective...
Baits: this is just as simple; it back to basics and old school, bread for carp, worms for everything else...
Species; quite a few here; Carp - (all varieties including orange coy) Barbel, Kurper (vlei kurper is the most common, there are blue and red breast, but they are rare to pull out, red breast being the rarest. Their are bass but not so many, which means the ones there are huge.
Fishing times; the carp only start biting nicely after 2pm, but the rest of them bite constantly (not sure abou the bass, not my area of angling)
