MAG-IT MAGNETIC CAST CONTROL SYSTEM : BANAX LEGEND 50

The Banax Legend 50, is proving to be a great heavy edibles/med shark reel and provides great value !

As I didn't have a sample on the bench, when the first request for a MAG-IT system for one, came around, I asked about and Johan Barnard of George, had a sample available.

I asked him to check through his existing stock of current Mag-it magplates and he found that the kit for the Saltist/BG 35/40/50, fits perfectly and provide a nice and practical range of adjustibility.

So .... Banax Legend 50 sorted - many thanks for the pics (to follow) Johan !

Done 12 of them and just used the 1 piece Tor 50 plate with the Saltist 50 magnets. Had no choice and did mine first because I had to have the reels set up for my customers from Europe who have no idea on how to cast a big multiplier and they want to DO IT ALL THEMSELVES...... and I don't have time to sit and sort out over-runs for hours on end.

In hind sight this would be a better setup with a larger range of adjustability

Hi Craig !

You are so right - after though is so much easier than having to make a decision on the spot and under pressure.

As I have worked with such a wide range of reels in the development of the MAG-IT System, the old brain sort of, 'find" these solutions easier than in the beginning and when I suggested the Saltist plate to Johan to try, I was very happy that it fitted perfectly.

Not that many of the Banax Legends in the Cape and without a sample reel, a shot in the dark.


As I find a lot of variance in spoolspeed between brand new reels of the exact same model, the aim will always be for the largest possible range of adjustability,to cater for all possible users.

Craig did 2 Banax legend 50's and I'm loving the magged conversion. Next to be magged will be my Torium 50.

Hi Dave !

Thanks for the feedback - just check which generation of the Torium 50 you have, before taking/shipping it to Craig.

You get two different frame moulds and unless you cut/remove the little crossbar on the frame, you might need a two-piece magplate, for those models.

BUT, I slso see these from tome to time and no way of telling from the outside, untill you pull the spool !
