Lowrance Fishinder setting for shallow waters

Hi All,
 
I have a Lowrance Mark-5x DSI that I want to setup and use for the rivers (bushmans etc)
Any suggestion on the best setting with regards to Range and Frequency settings to use?
Leave range on 'Auto'?
Shallow waters = max frequency?

Any other settings I might have overlooked that's a good to have?

I thought I had my Gen2 HDS units configured correctly and then went out with Marc and John of Lowrance. What a difference it made when they fine tuned my 2 units on my bass boat! I am able to spot fish between trees and drop my bait to where they are between the trees. Almost like video games now.
