Lowrance elite 4

Hi there, I have just bought the Lowrance elite 4 gps/fish finder combo and tested in in the sea last week. Also was my first time on the sea with my new jetski...Got one 15kg Tuna at number 1 out from DSBC.

My question is, why did the background turn brown/green and not blue when I am on water on my chart? Also how do I know or set my device to show how far I am from the shore as I am only permitted to go 5 NM in?

Any advise would be much appreciated.

normally there is a manual.
so rtfm.
it will assist you in how to use the unit.

Hi Willem

I phoned around and here's the verdict:

You need to buy the maps from Lowrance to show you the exact position on the water. The default map is about 7 nm out. That's why it would appear that you are over land when you are on the water. The waypoints are still accurate though.

And to see if you are still within your 5nm distance from land - you have to save waypoints of the land and select to goto that waypoint and see what the distance is. The Lowrance elite 4 does not show you automatically the distance from shore.

9km is steeds ver uit. weet nie hoe diep dit daar op 9km is nie.
cape vidal word baie vining diep, teenoor st lucia.

so n goeie ding sou wees om a waypoint op die launch site te he, wat jou kan help.
of jy nou 6nm of 5nm daar buite is, gaan nie veel n verskil maak nie.
ek verstaan die rating, die vraag is, wie gaan dit polisieer?
dalk is daar tegnelogie wat dit kan doen.

dan ek glo die settings adjustment mag dieselfde wees tussen die 4 en 5.

so in jou setting kan jy kleure kies, asook brak water en sout water, slow trolling ens.
jy sal moet speel met die ding en hom daaruit leer.
