Lower Zambezi lodging?

Hi all, could anyone please recommend a lodge or guide operating on the Lower Zambezi river for a group of 10 anglers.

I am aware that there are some brilliant spots like Mana pools, Dekka etc but you need your own boat which we unfortunetaly don't have.  Most lodges that we have 'googled' only has 2 boats and a pontoon like platform to fish from.  Ideally we would like to be paired 2 per boat to reduce any unwanted "piercings", and to get more out of the trip.  Not many lodges around here have facilities of 5 boats or more???

We have been to the Upper Bezi a few times to lodges like Kalizo & Shackletons and would like to experience the Lower Bezi at a lodge with similar setups.

Have you looked at tiger safaris in Chirundu, they have lodges and boat hire, unless it has changed over the last few years boats where not allowed at Mana pools, you can find tiger safaris on this web site hope it helps

Jecha point is right down from the bulk of Tiger Safaris chalets , literally the bottom of the sand bank, if I remember correctly? Never stayed there but it seems nice.

I've been going to the Chirundu area for the last 20 years and it's really great. Yes, there are a few more lodges and fisherman around but it's for a reason. I find the fishing better than the Kanyemba area lower down the river (subjective) but the game viewing is definitely better!

Only advice I can give you is be prepared to travel long distances in the boat. We typically fish up river from say the Gorge/Nyamomba (sp?) down to B camp, or the stretch downriver from the Kafue to Mongwe. If you head up river once you pass C camp you'll probably be the only folks on the river unless any new lodges have opened in the last year.

Do you plan on fishing bait (live/fillet), lure or fly?

Appreciate the feedback, we'll throw flies and lures.  You are more than welcome to share your secret flies/lures knowledge built up over the past 20 years, promise I won't be a smart ass and follow my own ideas.

Hi guys.

We're also contemplating Chirundu.

Would 5 to 12 January be the completely wrong season for Tiger? I believe upper Zambesi / Chobe is dead during Jan/Feb due to water / dirt buildup.

Would Binga / Deka have the same result for that time of year?

Personally I think January isn't great - it's the peak of the rainy season and there are loads of small tribs and the Kafue coming in which seriously discolour the water.
