Went to fish Artlure club champs at Loskop over the weekend. Fished as part of a two man team for Natal with Niel Button "team artlure.com2".
ANyways the water was exceptionally high somwhere in the region of 115% and the water was pumping over the spillway by 2.5m.
The dam itself was chocolate brown from top to bottom with rafts of floating debries and semisubmerged trees -which proved to be quite a hazard and a few boats slammed these. ANother thing to contend with was the water dropped by almost 1.5m in the two days of compo.
Fishing was extremely tough with the maximum fish species being caught being only 8 (normally up to 14). But the barbel were very aggressive if you could find them and for the first time in my life I had success using spinnerbaits - not on bass but on our whiskered friends.
ANyways always great to keep company with great people and new skills learnt we Placed 5 out of 14 teams. The natal guys took the takings with 1,2,4,5,6 place all going to Natal Lads - one team from Gauteng managed to sneak 3rd spot.
