Looking for dive buddy's.

I live in Durban and have recently taken up the awesome sport of spearing. I have been diving for cray for many years and have found myself looking less in the rocks and more into the distance at the fish life.

I have had one or two some what successful dives with the gun and have been given the run down on techniques by an experienced spearfisherman that dives every other day off a boat and shore dives, problem is that he is at another level of diving as the depths and times he can achieve are a little out of reach right now... I am self employed and often have slow work days that I could get in a dive and most weekends im in the water. I have been reading up on the basic guide lines for safe diving and I have found the one that stands out the most is never dive alone as I often want to dive shallows solo but being a father I'm finding it hard to ignore the dangers of solo diving.
