PLEASE WOULD SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE REQUIREMENTS ARE FOR INLAND LIFEJACKETS,DO THEY HAVE TO BE THE ORANGE SABS APPROVED ONES OR CAN THEY BE ANY OTHER MAKE

My understanding is that the orange ones (SABS) must be in the boat or worn by crew in the boat but the watersport ones can still be used by skiers, people on tubes etc.

And what about canoes? Can ones use a canoe without a lifejacket?

Bruce as far as I remember you have a choice of 3 life jackets that are approved for your COF. If they are not approved you could pick up problems. I have the details in my book from the skippers exam I will post later for you.

Attached are the new Life Jacket regulations .. note difference in change from SABS to SANS standards.
