Latest Stywelyne - boat flip pics

Has anyone seen the latest Stywelyne Mag with the pics of the boat flipping. Great series of pics, I trust the two were not injured. Dont know were it happened but the boat didnt seem to have a registration number and they are wereing sking jackets.

 

Does anyone have more info?

Iwas trying to figure out how that happened. If you look at the elbow angle on the guys right arm, it looks like he actually opens the throttles while the boat's nose is still going UP over the wave. Also, they mention a strong southerly, so light boat, heavy engines, wind under the tunnel, throttle at the wrong time... but I am just speculating.

The article states that they walked away unscathed (but bruised) and the boat was recovered and flipped upright by onlookers.

My observation exactly. Does look like he opened up as nose went up. one lightweight Tannie on the seat up front not enough weight.
Main reason though seems to be a clueless skipper.

Those boats only wiegh 200Kg without motors

its a witblits and max hp is 2*30hp.

I saw them last night and can only speculate that he is an inexperienced skipper - the worst that should have happened there is that the boat gets swamped by the greenie, which in itself could have dire results but not nearly as bad as flipping could be - he seems to have panicked and opened up when he should have done the opposite???(hows the auntie sitting vas all the way - hehhehheh!!)
I came close to doing the same thing punching a wave in Mozambique last year - as the nose came up to about 45 degrees I leant forward and my chest(right tit) pushed the throttles forward to full taps and the boat took off apollo style!! - mates on another boat that had punched a wave before me rekon they had time to do a full hull inspection on my boat and even reported a screw missing on the keelstrip!!(heh heh) - scary sh1t!! but as they say, the only way to learn how to surf launch, is to surf launch.
The other thing I noticed was the ski jackets and the rods out??? - very dangerous.

Also who knows maybe the aunty thinks it's pretty normal to take off like that hahaha.

My toppie had a nasty incident on the same beach in Chidenguelle in an invader cat on 5th jan this year and he broke both shoulders.

Yep the above incident happened at Chidenguelle as did my dads incident Ive been out at Cidenguelle a couple of times and it can be quite a bugger but i guess that any launch has its days.

Howzit mouse001, We stop over there every year on the way up - nice place(lekka pub and resturant) but not a nice launch unless flattish. A friend of mine chewed his props up there on the rocks on the first day of a 3 week trip through southern Mozambique and ended up driving back to Maputo for new ones.
I had the chance to launch there 3 years ago when we had to stay an extra night but gave it a miss as the sea was a bit up - rather safe than sorry.
There are lots of better/safer launch sites in southern Mozambique than Chidenguelle the trick is to get the accomodation right - some of it is dodgy to say the least, although it is a lot better than it was 8 or more years ago.

Luckily Ive always got accom at Chidenguelle as my dad has his house there +- 7Km From Des Mares/Nyambavale Lodge the place is magic but getting a bit commercial a beaut of a resort has come up its called Lake Resort This is a realy beaut they have an awesome pool and i belive even some rooms with jacuzzi etc. I guess your friend bust his props about 500metres south of Paraizo De Chidenguelle If so its not the only guy ive heard of the reef can be a ball ache if the tide is a bit low.Ouch!!
