Lack of Reports

Howzit S/L,

I have picked up a significant drop in reports on fishing trips. Can I please urge all of you too please post your reports, as this assist all of us in preparing and planning our own trips?

I know it seems tedious at times but it only has to be two or three lines at most. The whole idea of Sealine is to assist and share information where possible. I can understand if there is leagues, SA's etc on the go but please post as soon as you can.

Im not pointing fingers at anyone, I'm just asking your help building our own database for future reference.:woohoo

Just a suggestion, speak to Nurato, maybe start something similar in the freshwater section as the Young Guns vs Ballies thread in the salt section, get the blokes to post there catches, complete with a report.  Get a friendly comp going.

Let's see what the wider community has to say. Hopefully we can implement something similar to be aligned.

jeepers, I quickly flew through the posts and must say that it is very dissapointing, but most probably true.

Hopefully we can start something else here for the Freshie side.

bw_l_) Sorry PI guilty - as charged, I do not however agree with the link as a reason not to post, yes there are a number of "roofies" on the site but they should be encouraged to join. The posts that are here are from all over the country so to claim that a post attracts a vast number of "anglers" to one spot is absurd. As some guys metioned word of mouth is the main reason certian venues become overcrowded by the quick fix anglers but I believe they soon fade.

Well, from a freshwater perspective, fish doesn't come out at spots like at the coast and most of the guys know the different venues for bank angling.
So to report on a trip at Ardenza for instance does not lend it to roofkykers to sponge on. After all, most of them can get that info anywhere else. It's like keeping a sale at Checkers a secret

Except of course if its a private venue

The excuse used not to do a report as other guys will flock to the area is the biggest load of horse manure.

You can do a comprehensive report with photos of catches, bait, etc etc and not mention the venue.

Its as easy as that. Then also again a photo brags ten times better than an inflated story

The same happens in any form of angling.

Think about it this way if you start your report...

I caught these fish in the Vaal river the weekend ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I caught these fish in lake Josini today .........................or

I caught these fish at Strand last week .................

You name the venue but not the exact spot, nothing wrong with that.

So Yes, dont not do a report and use location as an excuse

Sorry guys! I haven't fished for a while so that's why I haven't posted any reports.

I agree with withholding venue info if one is afraid of this info being missused, but don't let it stop you from posting pics and doing a little report. It doesn't take long to do a report and posting a few pics.

We can challenge each other once a month to post a report whether you caught something or not. We will be out fishing more often espescially that the Forum will go quite through the winter.

Maybe a positive and negative report, positive if you caught something negative if you didn't catch and other members can give some pointers.

Remember a report does not always have to be just about fishing.

It can be about:

Your holiday

The road, locations, security, what to take along etc etc

Its all about informing the next guy to be ready for his trip/adventure
