After a disappointing year for carp at my usual venue, Albert Falls, an opportunity came up to fish a private venue at Kranskop past Greytown. We camped for 2 nights and were rewarded with beautiful healthy carp of which all were released. The carp there fight extremely well being able to peel line off a tight drag. Unfortunately many monsters were lost in the snags this way.

Towards the end of the day I left my girl
alone with the carp rods to pursue some bass.
I gave her a quick run down of what to do
if she sees the "green plastic thingy" hanging
on my line suddenly dart off into the water or
bounce up and down.

15 minutes later and I saw her from afar
awkwardly tussling with the 12ft rod trying
to figure out how to hold a rod with such a
long butt all while this fish was trying to
"yank the rod out of her hands". I darted over
to help and she asks "am I supposed to open
this silver thing!? (the bail arm)" haha.

Long story short with a bit of help she
successfully landed her first carp and needless
to say she is now hooked, excitedly telling me
what a rush it was seeing the policeman or
"green plastic thingy" taking off. Loving it.
