Kosi bay

HI guys, our family is going down to Kosi Bay for the December holidays and we are taking our boat out onto the lakes. Do you guys have any nice spots I can try with rapalas, soft plastics ect. we will also be long lining if you guys have any tips concerning the method. Also if you guys can tell me which plastics or rapalas work. thanx

long lining? Unless my understanding of long lining is different then that is not exactly legal!

Longlining- dropping a bait in the middle of the lake carp-style using a boat. Then free drooling back to shore and putting the rods in rod holders. Very effective at Kosi.

howzit man.
I have only fished kosi once so dont know it that well but spent a week there so got to see all the spots.
Rob kyle will probably be able to help the best as thats his home turf.
2nd lake is where most of the guys seemed to long line. Saw the guys get some mooi grunter that week with this method. Keep your plugs handy incase some kingies come past while on anchor. Theres some nice bream and snappers there too and the odd big kingie lurks there as well
The south of 3rd lake has a shallow sandy bank with a drop off where kingies come up and feed along it so thowing plugs and lead heads could bring on some fun sessions as well.
Theres some good snappers theres too but always watch the hippos man. Dam those creatures are huge and the odd croc might be there as well.

I have fished many times in Kosi Bay, sometimes lucky, sometimes not. I am told by the locals the lures do not work. I have had success with sand prawns, also known as kafoof, for catching grunter. You can use sardines or live bait for Rock Salmon.

Grunter are caught in second lake, or you can try for the salmon in first or second lake.
