Knysna

My brother and I will be in Knysna for the Easter weekend, from Friday morning till Monday morning.  We were wondering if anyone on Sealine stays there and if they would like to get together for a few casts by the lagoon or if they can recommend a spot off the bank to fish at this time of year.

I have read some of other Knysna advice in some of the other threads and we will go to some of the spots listed there.

Not taking anything big with, just our small river / spinning rods and a few plugs, dropshot and lures. No boat, so we will be fishing from the side.

Thanks

Hi there. There is not much I can add to what has been said in previous threads. There are some good leeries around. The cob have gone quiet, but must be still around. There are some small (under size) shad, but please stick to the prescribe limits. I have seen quite a lot of grunters tailing last Sunday, so it would be a good idea to stalk them.

Like I always say: The lagoon is like a woman. Beautiful to look at, but difficult to understand! What works one day may not work the next. Pop in to Breezers Fishing in Grey Street, the guys there are always on top of things.

Hi SAfish

Thanks for the advice.  I'll make a turn past the shop.  Will also have to check wht drop shot I have.  I have never had any luck with it in PE, either at sea, on the river or from the side.

Will try what I have as well as a few plug and lures.  Might even just resort to normal cut bait and chokka!  If I can get some live prawns or worms from somewhere, that would be great.

You can pump prawn and worm on the Heads side of Leisure Isle. There is an area where you are not allowed to take out bait, just look for the white poles and signage. Go there at low tide and you will see the sand banks. Keep your permits handy as the conservation guys will be out to check them. I will pm you my number, give me a call if you need more info.
