Hi Guys

My first post after much lurking!

Heading up to Knysna for the weekend - better half's doing the marathon, i'm going to try get wet. I've never dived the area before, but got some great tips about potential spots from jensent (we're be staying in sedgefield, Gerickes?)

Anybody planning on being in the water and/or looking for a buddy? Windguru predicting a 1.7m swell for sat, not sure if that will hold or if that will be good, any advice is appreciated!

Saturday looks very good for Gericke's as Friday will be offshore winds and should blow it flat.Only problem is that it may also make it cold and then the fish are scarce.

Swim around the front of the head at Gericke's starting at whichever side the current is not against you,at both "corners" as you head around there is good reef in shallow water.Shot my PB cracker on the inside there.

Hi Reece, saturday swell predection does look good, at the moment here in Knysna, the water is a bit Dirty but hoping that it cleans up over the next few days.

Gericks is a lekker spot to dive, just make sure that it's not too cold because as CapeSpearo said, the fish can be scare and sometimes the Taxman is around.

If you staying in Knysna and you want to dive the day of the marathon, send me a PM with your contact Number, I think with the Marathon going on, the roads to Sedgefield are going to be backed up, so it might be better to Dive Coney Glen at the heads here.

Bufalo bay , theres a point running in , you cant miss it its right by the Wildside backpackers , i would suggest you get a buddy to dive with you , keep in mind the Buf can be duk sketchy , with whole lotta sharks , lots of crackers in that area , the surf can be quite hectic aswell , i would you stress bout the vaaljasse , in the past 15 years i know bout 4 surfers that lost their lives there , one of then was a good surfing bud of mine Herkilis . nevertheless some good fishing there!!

Buffalo Bay is a reserve and no spearfishing allowed.

Never understood why you can fish from the shore but not dive from the shore ? :addn

Thanks for all the responses and advice guys! I'm def. not too keen on checking johnnies, but desperate to get some sea-time in, especially with the abundance of life in the area i'm told about. Eckart and ph03n1xkny I'm dropping you guys a PM now, hopefully check you guys on the weekend!

That makes 2 of us CapeSpearo, i also cant understand why one can fish there but not spear! Another Spearo i know here in knysna has been diving the whole area for about 30+ years...If there is anybody that knows alot about the Area its him, and he has warned me about the Taxmen that hang around in that area, wanted to go freediving there, to check it out.
