Sorry to revise such an old thread, but what knot would you recommend for the lure to braid?
Hi, Generally early morning and late afternoon are good for catfish, but don't be afraid to pop for them after dark as well.
I've caught many big ones in the hours before and after midnight.
80% of my fishing for catfish these days are casting a popper and pumpkin, then dipping technique with loodkoppe (mainly winter) and then calling technique.
Dipping is when you drop a loodkop or jig onto the whiskers of catfish lying in sun in shallow water in winter from about 10:00 to 15:00 during hot days. Roodeplaat is good for this.

I blanked horribly last months when we were at the river. The weather didn't help either but will give it another go this weekend when we are at the dam again. Weather is looking better this time around.
