Just a short report, during the weekend of 28 to 30 October me and a few friends went to the Jimmy Roos Dam (dewetsdorp) close to Bloem for a weekend of fishing. On arrival the wind was blowing and after offloading we decided to wait for the wind to die down. Round about 16H30 we started to fish most of us had our carp rod out and Dawie decided he will go for barbel and it wasn’t long before he got a pickup of a platanna during Friday he caught 6 barbels ranging form 2 to 7 kg. This was the norm for the weekend in the mornings the wind picked up and fishing was impossible and when the wind died down the carp rods didn’t produce anything and the barbel rods went mad. At the end of the weekend we caught 38 barbel (Dawie 21). Regardless of the carp being reluctant to take the bait it was a great weekend.
All my barbel traces was divided between the guys and all the guys left the weekend with one thing they all are changing their hooks for future barbel sessions to mustad circle hooks. The biggest fish for the weekend was 9kg not massive but it was great fun!!! :fishn
