Howzit Gents and Lasses!

I am planning a weekend trip up to Jacobs Baai on the weekend of 20-22 November.

I would be grateful if anyone can help with some information about the slipway (if there is one), kreef spots and fishing spots.

Any assistance will be welcome.

Tight Lines!

Hey Steph,

Now I'm the one needing to apologise for the reply ... I'm still trying to learn how to navigate my way around this website and sometimes forget that I blogged a topic.:fbash

We went out with boat at Jacobs Baai. Fished both from the island and in the bay. Had crayfish nets in the water and fished with whatever bait we could lay our hands on ... live bait, sards, thokka, white mussle and nothing, not even a pick-up. After a hole day on the boat (as I said along the island and in the bay) - nothing.

Just confirms for me that the West Coast has nothing on the south coast in terms of fishing. I'm not sure I'll ever go there again to fish.

He he. I see where you going with this, but if you have a look at my original post, we were there in November last year and the season was still open then.

Best kept secret on the south coast and never fails to deliver some awesome catches. It is basically in the Hesiqua region also know as Eden Country. Travel on the N2 towards Riversdal and then turn right towards Vermaaklikheid. If you follow the road past Vermaaklikheid you'll eventually get to the river.

It's in the same bay as the Breede. About 15 km (by coastline) upwards towards Stilbaai
