Good day All.
So just a quick question, are there any bass in Jackson dam? If so what works and where to catch them?

Thanks in advance

Ive caught three on rapala rattle traps in fire tiger colour, all on the far side of the dam.

When you park walk along the left hand side of the dam, cross the outlet and you should be on the side that borders the waterboard. If you face the water the island should be about a 100 m to your left.

I stand parallel to the bank and cast along the sandbank making sure that the lure bumps along the bottom. Ive had some awesome smashes from the cats sunbathing on that bank (my tareget specie) however as mentioned Ive picked up 3 bass in the 700g range.

The other spots that Ive seen bass cruising and smashing baitfish is to the right of the parking lot infront of the bench, but being such a small dam thats heavily fished I think they are very wary of any lure.

Thanks Antjar
So the ideal side is to stand on the side of the waterboard (near the 'bridge')?
Any pics of the bass you've picked up?

Yes Rand Waterboard side , if you are in the parking lot facing the water, then the top left hand corner, there was a big sunken tree stump in that corner not so long ago.

No sorry dont have pics , I was fishing alone @ sunset so only carry pepperspray lol - which reminds me , all 3 were picked up between 18:00 and 19:00 on a warm summer night- I think it was around mid October.

I havent fished the dam in a while though , normally just go and take the hounds for a walk and if I see the barbel boiling on the surface I will throw a few rattle traps...

Cheers Ant
