I've been pretty quiet on this site for a while. ....trying to find my way around the very different fishing conditions of my new home waters. ...

As some of you may or may not know I was pretty successful on the West coast with drop shot....I had an awesome hit rate of success.....BUT.....all my fish was caught from my kayak and in day light.....

It seems that here a lot of the fishing is done at night......there is no structure here I can paddle out to to fish with the drop shot.......
So what I have seen is that it's only beach fishing......

Here are my questions.....any help will be very much appreciated. ..
1....does the tide make a difference here.....
2....does the time of day play a role...
3....do you guys use either spoon or any other forms of drop shot ....Paddle tails off the beach at night.....
4...
any other tips or advice will be greatly appreciated. .....

I'm basically fishing between Sedgefield and Nature's Valley.

i havent seen guys using art lures at night.
'the fish may sense the vibrations but i dont think they will see the lure.

The are lures that are in fact painted with a glow paint, and its intended to be for night fishing, or low light fishing

Agreed . sppons work at night- as sahd's eyesight are incredibly sharp .

As for Paddletails at Night , i dont see why not .
In a perfect world with no work issues , i Would've tried This already .Sadly , time does not make allowance for it .....

Give it a try , you have nothing to lose .
Generally speaking , i find paddle tails , even the darker Green translucent ones , work well in low light conditions - Nothing stopping a cob from feeding at night With vibrations . nothing .

DSM, cannot help much with info you require but can offer some encouragement.

My old man "used to" do alot of night time lure fishing for kob in the river mouths around the EL area.As with all forms of fishing it's trial and error as to when where and how.Just like you figure it out at day you do the same at night.If they there in the day they're closer at night.

Friend of mine used to paint his spoons black as it presents a better silhouette at night if you know what I mean.

From my experience over here at night.If you on the fish the difference between catching and not is retrieve speed.Yes fish use there L line to locate prey at night but I think they use eye sight in the last stage of feeding.So retrieve speed has to be as slow as possible wherever youre fishing in the water column.

Depending on the moon phase sometimes fishing is either better at day or night. For example our night fishing is better at night on a new moon but the next day fishing is very poor and visa versa on a full moon.

Our fish are smaller then what youre after but then the approach is about the same.Try any colour they all work at night, straight or paddle tail but key is to put the lure where the particular fish is feeding and keep it there as long as possible.They cannot determine if it's fake or not but wont chase it down if its fished to fast.
