ISIMANGALISO BULLIES ANGLERS AT SODWANA

I have just watched Carte Blanch. I feel so disturbed at what I saw!!

It would seem as if our fellow anglers are having a hard time. Not only them, but also the community at large and the businesses in Sodwana. According to witnesses on Carte Blanch,the top structure is making life hell for the folks down there.

Just listen to this :- The roads are extremely bad, full of potholes. The community decided to close some of the holes because nothing is being done by Isimangaliso. Used there own money. Decently tarred the holes. Then, guess what....the Top Structure brought in a team of people, removed the tar and filled the holes with sand and stone!!According to them the community did not have authorisation.

People that have been skippers there for ages, chartering tourists, divers etc. are being banned for no reason at all!!

According to the community they are acting like Gods. More like Mafia if you ask me!!!

I just want to give a "Shout Out" to our fellow anglers down there...don't give up!! Stand up for your rights!! I support you!! We the anglers and nature lovers are being pushed around way to much!! Enough is enough!!

Maybe I am overstepping the rules here, I don't know. This is my opinion though.

HI I stopped going to Sodwana about 6 years ago the righting was on the wall then already. The way the "New Rules" were being enforced then already (If you were in the "inner crowd" the rules were applied differently to you as to the guy that was not in this inner crowd.

Also just my opinion but that is how I felt and experienced it :?

It was interesting indeed, I would like to find out the full story of what is going on as something doesn't add up.
I do feel that security is a major factor of tourists not visiting the area. The lady from Isimangaliso was very sure of herself and answered the questions with confidence.

Eina, fully paid for a 10 day trip to Mseni Lodge this December. Nervously waiting to see the outcome of this scenario.

Hi all
I was at Sodwana a week ago. I did not experience any hostility from the parks board personnel at the gate or on the beach. The only discomfort is when you want to drive on the beach on the northern side of the launch area. They insist to search your vehicle for booze. There are big signs that prohibits alcohol on the beach.Yes the road to the beach is in a very bad state. I did not see any one having problems getting through the gates. I renewed my Rhino card at the office as well and the staff was very help full.
It seems to me the problem is higher up in the organization and not the people on the ground. the people in the area really need the tourism to survive.

Qaza, I don't think you have any thing to worry about. I went for lunch at Mzeni lodge. They are busy upgrading the whole place. People are still investing a lot of money in the area.

I only want to warn every body driving in the area. On Easter weekend I was stopped on my way to the beach and asked to do a breathalyzer test. Needless to say I drank a beer just before I left for a ski boat comp function in the caravan park. I had to give a lengthy explanation to convince them I had only one Hunters. Please be careful.

It seems to be exactly the problem. You are hitting the nail right on the head here. Seems like if you are not part of the inner crowd that says "Ja" and "amen" and do some A***%S creeping, you are out and the knives is comming your way!!

I don't know if I am wrong here, but it seems to be the people in charge of the funds and/or the powers that be of the World Herritage site, that seems to give the people problems.

Yes, the lady did answer with confidence...too much confidence if you ask me.

Treating people this way, is going to harm the economy. It is clear that there is antagonism towards each other. And I will not for even one moment let someone tell me that the community at large is wrong here. How can everyone else be wrong and only one lady correct? We, the anglers are also tourists / visiters to the very same area. Not only visiters from abroad. We also pump a lot of money into the industry countrywide. Then, out of the blue...someone writes or announces a new law causing us and our beloved sport to suffer.

This tells me that something is extremely wrong. Why not say thank you? Why remove something that have been done for the better of the area? This is arrogant! They wanted to prove a point here...(WE ARE IN CHARGE HERE!!)

Well i got news for them...they work for us all. We pay their salaries. You mark my words...the community at large is going to do something about this!!

Such a shame that a country with such beautiful characteristics is absolutely overshadowed by the way of life due to the arrogance of the powers that be. We pay tax every month which is supposed to go towards bettering the country as a whole through infrastructure. and what do we see? Let's not even get me started on what cars they drive or the houses they stay in. But for them to remove the tar (which was put down by the tax payer even on top of paying tax).. that is unacceptable!! like being robbed twice.. Other countries must be laugh at us. wouldn't you if u weren't from here and not ised to living like this?? somethings gotta give before we end up literally in a hole we can't get out of.
