i wouldn't say uncommon. I have caught grunter in the struisbaai harbour and also a few kilometres down the road at de mond. I just don't think that it is a fish that is targeted in that area

Great catch!!
Did you get it on prawn?

thanx Snack.. spot on got it on prawn.

got my attention at target.. do you mean in general like just casting a bait for what is known to come out in a certain area or is there a specific way to go about it that u use at struis and de mond that might work at agulhas.. reason why im asking is with non -eds aside for everything ive caught in this area for its size this fish had me fooled as it was my first and i had no idea what it was till i saw it but pound for pound a stronger fighter or very close to any other edible species in that size category as it just does not give up as im sure u aware.

fish was caught on christmas day with the sun just rearing over the horizon.. tide was out going to almost low.. 1/0 j hook with 12kg maxima hook snoot.

heres a clip of the area and tide for what its worth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-lMxEPg4Yk&feature=youtu.be
