Hi Guys,
New to the forum and also new to fishing in SA. I left SA quite a few years ago and ive been living and fishing in Ireland. Im in to my fishing in a big way, Ive spent most of my life fishing and neglecting work, study and everything else. I love to fly fish . Ive also done alot of saltwater small boat angling.  Im also heavily into carp  fishing, its been a major obsession for a few years now. I love fishing big dams for them, fishing at extreme distance from boats etc.  But im leaving Ireland behind and returning to SA, ill be based in PE. Im bringing my fly gear with me but unfortunatley ive had to sell my carp stuff. Ill also have a bit of spinning gear as well. Id love to hear from any of you that are based in PE. Fishing is never as much fun on your own!! So if any of you would like to hook up it would be cool to hear from you.

Looking forward to contributing to the catch reports :)

Mike

Not to worry bud. PE has quite a few guys on this forum. There is also a number of places were you can spin.

Contact Trophy and co on this forum and I'm certain they will point you in the right direction.

They will relief you off your cash & take you fishing.......

Ill definitely pay those guys a visit, Ill be more than happy to drop some cash in their shop if it gets me an invite to fish haha :)

So here's a few pics from today, my last day on the water in Ireland. This is a good mate of mine, Mark Houlihan, owner of Fly Fish Ireland. A cooperative of super guys who I was proud to work with and learn from. This is an Inniscarra Lake Pike, weight, 22lbs, super fish and in great condition. As always we fish all catch and release.

We had fabulous weather, gale force winds, rain, water temp was 7C and air temp was about 10. Typical Irish day lol Certainly wont miss getting drenched and frozen to the bone!

I have all the skirts, wire, dusters, hooks etc but not sure what colours and types work best in the Durban waters.

Thanks for reading this post and hope to get your feedback.

Hi Mike and Welcome....

Nice Female pike...

I myself are from Northern Ireland.. *Unfortunaley* with its climate it is hard to enjoy fishing sometimes.. your so lucky you have gone back.. on the other hand my South African Girlfriend is stuck here lol! Tho we where over in Durbs all of March past. Enjoyed it as always.

Let me know when your over again in the South and we can hook up for some carp and pike fishing! Carp fishing is the best.. I know you miss here for it lol.. its def not the weather!!! lol.

Take care Boet.

Hey Glenn,

Only thing I miss about Ireland is my mates, the rest of it is total rubbish! As far as the carp scene goes there its fun but not what I want to be fishing. I prefer big waters and wild carp to small stillwaters. I was lucky to be living in Cork, we had the only big water wild carping in the whole of the country and the best venue as well. Inniscarra is awesome, if you havent fished it then put it on your to do list, its a beautifull water to fish. Ive got a good mate that lives up North, also South African. Well into his carp fishing, Johann Fenske. Dont know if you know him or not, hes all about the Carp. Let me know if you want his phone number and ill put you in touch with him.

Let me know if youre ever coming back this side hey  :)

Cheers
Mike
