Spent the wekend at the cottage and son 1 got a 10kg couta of the jetski. Son 2 lost a nice couta on the jetski when it bit through the steel wire. Son 2 also lost a nice Garrick on a 7ft bass rod using a white superfluke on drop shot. The line snapped where it went round the hook . I got squat. A lot of small (tiny) shad were being buried by a group in front of the cottage but Jim Fish was nowhere to be seen. These same clowns then proceeded to open the Bazley Lagoon before they went home leaving all their rubbish behind. I don't think they do it on purpose, they just don't know any better.

We returned on Saturday from a week at Ifafa - camping at the resort. Fished mostly of beach at Elysium - - 1km or so to the right of McGee's pool. No fish to speak of - and hardly any bites. Same seemed to be true for most of the other guys I encountered from Station bay on ther left, to the rocks in front and all the way along to Elysium. The same areas were fishing well the last time I went in July 08. Even fishing for backtail off the rocks with my little daughter was not too productive.

The one exception was a local fishing into a deep hole in front of a large rock and over the top of another, covered with mussels. Pulled out 3 (undersize) Cob and 2 banded Galjoen in an hour last Monday (9 days ago. Fishing with mussels. But you lose a lot of traces with that kind of scratching and you have a short window of opportunity while the wind and tide are right to get your bait to sit in the right place.

Megsi you need to walk a little further North to just before Bazley lagoon. The rocks in front of my cottage produce a lot of shad, blacktail, small kingies (big eye mainly) moonies, ladder wrasse, karenteen etc. Garrick are caught here on live bait and spoon (dropshot as well). Rock bait, squid or sardine all work. I must have seen upwards of 20 small shad caught over the Easter weekend.

If you like there are bass in the Bazley lagoon. I have caught bass (1kg plus) under the railway bridge when the river mouth is closed.
