I was at  De rust on thusday(24/09/09) with friends. The fishing was not that good but we managed to land 3 carp.

We sat at the entrance before the sloot.The water was clear but there was alot of grass. All carp were caught before 12:00. The first was our biggest at 5kg the other 2 were 3kg and 2kg. We caught on brown bread mixed with golden syrup.

Great catches! My brother has a farm just outside De Rust with a dam stocked with carp and bass. I want to target the big carp this year.

i wont camp there... not safe...

There are no chalets and it not safe. If you want to camp there you must be at least 7 ppl with 5 awake at all times. The are no facilities  only a abolution block. let me know if you still want more info and directions.

i went there two weeks ago and there was noupgrades as per article, or i just could't see any, nice dam to catch from 5 in the morning til 5 in the afternoon.

Fish in the start before the sloot or far after the lapa at babers bay these are deep waters. Use a sweet dough with sweet dips such as banjo, stuttafords, tjop-tjop, black almond, honey or golden caramel with green flouro and use some SA poweder now and then. You can also make brown bread with honey.Always had succes there with these baits, never went home without a fish during the summers.      GOOD LUCk

Hi - I was there 2days ago, there's contruction vehicles driving through and through there but no real upgrades are seen as yet. I only caught 1 carp 2kgs using strawberry dough.
