OK, so I have some feedback. After buying all sorts of nasal sprays, one very helpful pharmacist gave me a home remedy recipe.

*half teaspoon baking soda

*half teaspoon salt

*500 ml luke warm water

Mix all together and then the ugly....you have to snort it trough the nostrils and literally flush your sinuses.I did it and it is like magic, the effect is immediate and is not so bad once you get the hang of the snorting bit. They say you can ad a half teaspoon of sugar to prevent the burning sensation, but I found it unnecessary as it doesn't burn at all.

I also got the cortisone injection on Friday, will still see if it helps and then give feedback.

The recipe I normally use is:
2L boiled water
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 tablespoon sugar

Snort or use a syringe. Use only about a cup full every time. The rest you can store in a container in the refrigerator and reheat when needed.

Alternatively you get a sinus rincer called Sanex i think which you can buy at any pharmacy. Works as good as well.

Good luck!

Baking soda damages the nose after some time. I found a nasal spray that works and it is not habit forming. It is for hayfever relief. Clenil Aq nasel spray. It takes a while and then it starts working.

I used to suffer terribly and then my friend who is a chemist said I must try it. With all the wind, rain etc I have not been blocked once, had headache and slept through the night without waking up.

Try it cos what do you have to lose.

Good news, I have been doing the salt and baking soda thing this winter and so far in spring(which is normally the worst), every time I feel sinus coming on I make the mix and flush my sinuses with a syringe, and nothing not even a cold.  I broke my nose in a car accident a couple of years back, and had to have it reconstructed, after that the one side of my nose all ways feels blocked, so when I get sinus the mucus stays and does not flush out on it's own. Did some research on the net, as far as I understand, mucus is like fertile soil for viruses and bacteria to grow in, hence flushing with the mixture gets the mucus out and kills the bugs at the same time.

Well that's my story in any case. Hope it helps some one else as well.
