I live in Elands Bay

We had red water last week...shifting patches and streaks all over...last Wednesday the waves in front of my house were dark red brown

Rumour also that some crayfish walked out in Lamberts Bay

Left it for a week and got 50 fresh black mussels yesterday afternoon from the reef south of the crayfish factories

I ate about 10 and my girlfriend 6

After an hour my lips went numb...like when you regain feeling after the dentist

Fingers and hands start tingling....arms get weak and float on their own

Slurred speech..cannot whistle...wine dribbles out your mouth...Shyte!  :)

Cannot feel a glass in your hand and it feels weightless

My GF has the same sympoms and was falling against the walls this morning and is still nauseaous (spelling?)

Nearly drove to Vredenburg hospital in the early hours, but the symtoms are starting to ease  as I am typing this

Neurotoxin triggered by algal bloom and the chain reaction thereafter... absorbed by filtering organisms...this includes perlemoen and crayfish

Can last 3 months after the water has cleared...a single mussel can cause the lungs to collapse within 2-24 hours

This I googled 02h00 this morning

Big skrik!

Thanks okes,

Feeling a bit woozy and lightheaded this morning and my GF has bad headache

Only slight tingling left in fingers and arms

I posted this because lots of people catch and enjoy the West Coast seafood

We hear about these things but not so funny when it happens to oneself
