i just bought a abu ambassedur 2500c for R1000, it seems brand new and never used. does anyone have any experience or tips with this reel. i think it a older model thanks alot

I owned a later model for awhile. Lots of upgrade parts available - double ball-bearing levelwind drive gear, ball bearing level wind, ceramic levelwind pawl. When tweaked an amazing and good natured (doesn't easily backlash) reel for baitcasting lighter lures like Hornet 3's. The lack of instant anti-reverse and the slow retrieve speed can be a bit of a pain. It is a brilliant cranking reel for bass.

sounds good to me, im excited to use it, you mention bass fishing ,how do you think it will handle in the sea for some elf fishing?or some big vaal barbel?

Drag will definitely need upgrading - there are carbontex washers available from Mike's Reel Repair in the US http://www.mikesreelrepair.com/drag-upgrades-washers-for-abu-reels-c-47_120.html. Once that's done it'll handle elf and barbel - it's got surprisingly good line capacity. Fine for light drift bait (8-10lb line).
