I have my eye on a Yamaha VX 700, 2010 model, 20 hrs on clock, rigged for fishing on trailer.

What do you experienced guys think of this craft?

Your honest opinion will be appreciated.

i had a yamaha xl1200 2 stroke and if it wasn't for all the bullsh1t rumours going around that they gonna ban 2 strokes i would probably still be fishing off it.  i love my 4 stroke dont get me wrong but there is absolutely nothing wrong with a 2 stroke. as for slow trolling, i very seldom if ever fish with plastics, my prefered way of targeting fish is either with live bait or dead bait and i never had issues with slow trolling these in idle mode on my 2 stroke. dont believe everything you hear cause, the guys giving you the info more than likey 1 have never owened a 2 stroke JS or 2 is a sales person trying to make more comm on the 4 stroke. One bit of advise i can give you is, if you decide to go for the 2 stroke, bypass the auto lube by disconnecting it and use the old fassioned pre mix method. will save you loads of money should that auto lube pump break or hose pull out, again i'm talking from 1st hand experience.,

I have a 2010 VX 700.... and love it!

The only decision you need to make is 2 or 4 stroke.

4 stroke is quieter and lighter on fuel, but 2 stroke is much cheaper to repair should you ever need to.

agreed 4stroke is some what quieter than 2stroke but lighter on fuel, not so sure on that. on my 4 stroke i use much the same amount of fuel per outing as i did on my 2 stroke. i suppose it's cause 90% of my fishing is done in idle mode. might be different if you race up and down all day long pulling plastics. Bare in mind that pulling a plastic or two increases the drag and thus having the engine work harder.

I had a Waveblaster II 760 (2-stroke) and a FX140 (4-stroke). The 760 was a 98 model so it was temperamental...problems starting sometimes and the fumes were terrible. The 4-stroke gave no problems at all...if you can afford it, go for the 4-stroke.
