I've just bought the Garmin 526S, very, very smart!. The 521s is a much older model.

@foxhat yeh, but, how much did you pay for the 526.

The 521 is special at R 7400.00. full bundle (incl transducer and Maps!) was trying to find out if I would actually get a unit after paying at that price,

ie has anyone bought a unit from NAVI Technology, the link i posted, got good service etc.

I really just want the chartplotter not to use the garmin as a f/finder

R7400.00 is a good price. I paid R9000 for the 526S including transducer, G2 3D vision and Homeport.

Total cost included shipping from Northern marine in the states.

Sea Port supplies in Durban blew me off, knew nothing about the product and could'nt commit to delivery.They did'nt even know there were products more recent than the 521S

I have my own opinion about the Garmin reps and agents.

Most of the stuff I needed I find on websites and gave the agents the part number to order, and then it still takes about six weeks.

The thing with Garmin is that the agents do not really have stock, if you want something it must be ordered from GarminSA.

I had much better experience with Radio Holland with there Furuno products. Walk in ask for something, get a cup of tea and product in your hand.

I got a GPSMAP 431S from Navi full bundle. Great service and deals. I accidently buggered up my 3g vision sd card by unnecessary updating the maps for map source.

They sent me a new SD card with maps at no cost.

Cheapest on Garmin products I found.
