Hey guys

How important is a boat when fishing artlure? Will it scare off all the fish if you try stalking them from the bank or can you be successful from dry land?

Thanks

Eish! One of the most important things in art lure. Reason being that different species hold out in different parts of the dams. Some of the species are in places where you won't be able to get to them. Also in competitions, you need to get your species as soon as possible. So when you have one specie, you must quickly get to the other spots, so a boat is 100%. We also try and keep all the species alive in the live wells. You will struggle to do that from the bank. If I take barbel for instance, you can throw cranks for them from the bank, but you won't be able to dip for them. They sometimes lie in the sun on flats in the dam and they are much easier to target from a boat.

You can still do artlure from the bank and when fishing for carp sometimes wading is the best way to target them is by wading.
For competative artlure a boat is an essential piece of equipment but for social it is not so nessary however when you have experinced fishing off a boat it is very difficult to go back to bank angling - it also affords you the opportunity to fish parts of the dam with low or no fishing impact
