Why don't you get Loomis & Franklin? I fished with them once and I was hooked!I bought myself a 10 ft for fishing the Vaal river, and now I am using it every time when I am going carp fishing!! The sensation thunder-cast are also looking good, especially when throwing big bombs!!!

Hope I could help

My bud bought some graphite rods a while ago, 12ft's and if memory serves me well he also bought some 10ft's, at a very reasonable price, I just cannot remember what make they were and at which place he bought them.  He used to be part of the SAPS Gauteng Central team if I'm not mistaken and surely would know which would be the best to buy in the lenghts that you've indicated. So if you could give me a chance then I'll give him a call and get you the info, he should still be on top of the ball as he still fishes every now and then and he still does with some of his old SAPS collegues, so I'll give him a buzz?

Just spoke to that bud o mine and he reckons that you should consider the following for the best results ito casting, weight, actiona and strength.

He suggest you take a looka at getting yourself the Purglas terminator blanks (yes these are sea blanks, great stiffness he says) and then have then built by a person at Leons Angling in Pretoria, He's not too sure about the pricing on the blanks and the building of the rods, but if you're intersted I could get you the info of the Angling shop and the rodbuilder, let me know?

Thanx for all the info. I will realy apreciate it if you can get me that info of the rod blanks and the builder.

Lord Spaz

Will do that and will let you know as soon as I've found the info, just bear with me as it might take a little time, and if the telephonic search doesn't help then I'll drive to the angling shop and get the info for you.

No hassle, I want to go and check out what new stuff they've got anyway.

Just spoke to the guys at Leon's Angling in Paul Kruger street, Mayville Pretoria (their tel is 335-4873) and got the name of the guy that builds up the rods for them, his details are as follows:

Criag Neil

082 448 7226

So now all you have to do is get hold of the latter and see what he says.

Hope this helps, if not please let me know if I can possibly get you more info, etc.

Hi Lord spaz

If you are looking for a great custom built rod then I would defnitly sugesst that you look at the JL customs They are made by johan lewis thees are some of the best if not the best custom built Carp rods on the market. the brand of rods is the terminaltor.

You can contact Johan on 0722024175

If you want to buy a rod off the shelf the the Blue marlin T53 are awsome. I have a set and would not trade them for anything.

Hi Lord Spaz,
What does your budget look like? I have a pair of 13ft Sensation Thundercast for sale. Look at the for sale forum.

Hi Lord Spaz
If you are looking for 10ft rods, contact Johan Louwies (014) 596 6425. He builds a 10ft rod called the fatcat, imo it's the best 10ft rod for general freshwater angling. You can cast from a P0 up to a P3 with a mielie bomb. The guys who use these rods cast the same distance as other guys that use 12ft rods. I've been using mine for 3 years now and will never use any other 10ft rod again!

If you are looking for a 12ft, then i can either recommend the terminator from Schalk van Breda or the T53 terminators also from Scalk.

Hope this helps
