Hi Guys,

So early morning Saturday, packed the last bits, and got in the car, and we were moving on our way to Rosslee, I haven't been to Vaaldam in Three Years and I am so excited! Heard from the people we are meeting there that he already pulled 6 Fish the Friday, good news! Arrived at about 6h00, due to complications, lines were only in the water by 7h00.

Didn't have to wait long, and fish on! Caught a Vaaldam size Carp, and then another. We were onto a fish at least every 45min. Threw a day old chick for Mr. Whiskers at about 8h00, sat and watched the rod from a distance for half an hour, and the tip was bouncing, sat thinking to myself, probably a bird that sat on the rod, but walked over anyways, bounce, bounce and kkkkkrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, hooked up to about an 8 kilo!

The barbel were quiet for the rest of the weekend, more chicks, fish head, nothing wanted to bite.

Common Carp we caught about 20 for the weekend, 1 muddie, 1 barbel, 4 Grass Crap, 2 Mirror Carp and say ten Smallmouth Yellows.

Carp was most active Saturday on:
Tjop-Tjop (ball) and Banjo (bottom hook)
Molasses and TCP (bol)
Perdeby (bol) and Almond S (bottom hook)
Banana Jamaica (ball)
Duiwelsdrek (ball)
Witbaas-Garlic (bol)

We picked up early on Saturday that the fish were most active on plain Mielies, but we didn't follow through and mixed it up between TCP floats, Bleeding Floats, plain yellow marsmallow floats, bunspice floats(these caught nothing), garlic floats and some dough, but the sweet dough didn't do too well. Fish caught at 80, 60, 40 and 20 metres.

Sunday was a different story, I caught 2 early at 60 metres, then my other half started fishing again, she has a 6 foot pink rod, with a combo reel. Baited up herself, plain mielies, Banana Jamaica on the ball. She casts about 15metres, we waited 10 minutes, BOOM! ON! I joined her with one rod (we were packing up) same bait up, and we hit 8 of the ten yellows and three carp in about two hours, all between 15 and 20 metres out. Later we ran out of mielie bom, and I cast out two mielies dipped in Flouro, and caught two fish like that.

All my fish caught on Gly Rietvlei, my mate used baby shoes aswell. Did not lose any Rigs the whole weekend, and only hooked one other line.

Rosslee is excellent for a weekend away, if your wife and kids can live with the limited facilities, it is a blast. The kids can cast out themselves, and they will be able to get fish. Those yellows are a fun fight on lighter tackle! Rosslee will definately see me again!

Did not take my camera, but my friend took photos, as soon as I can get them, will post up some pics!
