Hi guys!

Myself and a couple of friends are going to the Transkei (Hole in the wall, Coffee bay) in June/July and I am looking for advice on where to go for spearfishing? We are all comfortable diving up to 15m so if any one has advice on reefs to target and fish species and so on?! It would be much appreciated!

Haha...I know that video I watch it like twice a day every day. I'm serious that video is amazing!

Do you guys have any advice on where to stay? I looked at "Coffee shack; Bomvu Backpackers and Sugar loaf Backpackers" Don't know which one to choose!

You can stay at any of the backpackers if you are shore diving. Best to stay at the HITW hotel if you take a boat along. Get the weekly launch permit.

We will be there from roughly 16 July till 25 July. Great time of year if you get a weather gap. If you get good fish take photo's out at sea, the locals dont enjoy the spearo's parading their fish once you beach.

Yeeow hey that video! very mooi!
also been itching to go to transkei or moz and shoot some decent fish...havn't really dived anywhere other than cape town (dived stilbaai once, as well as gerrikes) so I'd need to either go with some okes that know whats what...or make a plan to get there and hook up with them...heard June/July was a good time.
Willing to pay the costs of whatever, so if anyones going thats keen to take me along I would be most grateful :)
otherwise i'll find some buddies, slap a suit on em...give em a stick and try finding out for myself :D

Thanks for the advice! We will be shore diving so we will probably stay at one of the backpackers at Coffee bay! I hope we get good weather because I am looking to do some serious diving.

Green giant! At the moment our crew is full and there is no transport space but if a space goes open I will keep you in mind!

hey man, all good :) just putting it out there for whenever....
all these USM's make a oke drool.....10 years spearing..and still havnt been on a boat...or up the coast...gotta kick my butt into gear :)

We are going to be there from the 1 - 7 July. We should go dive together if you are keen?! Are you planning on shore diving or are you taking a bout?

Coffee bay is rad, very touristy. If you come further down the coast past hole in the wall is Bulungula and Mpame these places are amazing

I went to the transkei in december. There is a little house on the hill near whole in the wall. You cant miss it. The people who owns that does lots of spearfishing and are really nice. Just give a knock on the door and ask them for advice. I saw the pics of the fish they shot and ill tell you it is insane!!!! Laat my gat jik om daar te gaan spear.

If my memories serves me right then this image indicated the two large rocks in the water and the reef around these rocks is where they dive from the shore. Some very large peonskoppe!!!!

Hi Guys

I'll be staying in Coffee Bay from 1 - 7 july , I am staying at " Hole in the wall hotel and holiday village" more specifically in their campsite, R 80 per person p/day decent ablutions and warm water, lots of activities on site, horse riding, deep sea charters, bars restaurants, and safe! Close to the beach.

They have a backpackers also, which can be recommended
