Hi Guys,

My brother is going to lake kariba at the end of june and asked me to get some info for him on whats the best bait to use in that area, so if anyone has some info on what works the best at kariba rapalas, kapenta, live bait, mepps or what it may be it will be much appreciated.

Or maybe a website I can visit with all the regarding info.

I have never fished Kariba, or asked anyone that has. But I could perhaps shed some light on the subject for you. I will talk to a friend of mine that probably fished there.

Apart from that, Mepps, Rapala Magnum, live bait, deadbait fillet, all should work. Try trolling slowly and fish a succesful place more than once. If you luck out on trolling look for them amongst reeds, rocks and similar structure, as they do ambush (much like Bass).

I will post as soon as I get a more detailed answer for you.

Loams,

I read an article that say any red or orange rapalas 11cm long should do the trick. But any other info will help alot.

Thanks

Yes, The white Rapala 11cm Magnum with a red head and white body will work. I'll take a picture of my Rapala's tonight, I know they all work for Tiger.

I would also suggest you get a few ones one size up from the 11cm. Big baits catch big fish :D

Big baits catch Big fish?  Wait till you see that Thundercore DWAG from Storm Lures then you'll be scared hunting for LGF cause you might be dragged into the water by the Big fish that took the big lure.....

Maybe I should try and take a picture of it next to something that you can use as some sort of reference ito size.....

I'll do that hopefully still today, but it being so dark cause of clouds, you must excuse if the quality isn't all that Great, but hopefully you'll get the size idea.

I've taken the pic, and posted it under Bass fishimng under "the DAWG" go check it out, the pic didn't come out all that great but at least you can get a rough idea how big that thing is.

BTW, it's got the looks and probably the actions of one of them funny fishes/things that was posted in the strange feesssh topic, a "Mexican Salamander"
