The heavier lead will slow you down at 90degree layout, in such cases try the classic s. African OTG. Rod position same as your last video but sinker at 180degree to the tip, body facing left, legs shoulder width apart. The idea is you must be free and comfortable. Left hand straight at eye level. Right elbow at 135degree with fist at shoulder height. Both elbow locked until punch pull. Take one step, the moment body face target, hit the rod. This will give you an idea how to set your grip. Keep a close eye in the left knee when you do a cast, if it is going up, the knee joint is absorbing some power. Ideally you want the left knee straight before hitting the rod.

This is how Danny train some of his club members. http://m.youtube.com/user/wimgul
I do not recommend keeping the right hand very straight for now, 8oz lead can tear shoulder joints if you aren't careful.

Forgot to tell u one very important point. The sinker must be on the ground when you punch pull. My sinker drop is 3/4 to 2/3 rod length for reference. You cannot punch pull a sinker that is already flying off to your right due to rod already unloading. That is why the rod tip is deliberately low even when rod is bent. No matter which OTG u pick up, this is important. Watch the rod tip in all the video I posted to date.
If you still cannot reach 150m doing that, then you will have to learn how to explode with the hips. Generally I got to 180m on 6oz without using much explosive movements and a magged reel.

Hi Guys,

On this casting topic,

I was at the vaal last year, and saw this old Afrikaans topie launch his cast and believe you me this wasn't an ordinary cast it literary rocketed, he used a 14 ft rod with a baitrunner,

He looked and me and laughed then called me over,

i went there he said why do you look so shocked, i said to him you tell me with a laugh...

He says let me teach me teach you something about casting, he drops he's line almost to the ground, at least 3 quarters of his 14 ft and sends it, there again it goes, not sure on the meter count, but no one was casting his distance on the dam,

i go back try it and flop after a few times, then get it right and guys you wont believe the result, i got atleast another 30-40m from my normal cast at half length of the rod,

its very hard to control but once you get it, it is rewarding.

Carp hunter,

Can you please explain the technique he used?

Was he swinging the lead in a circular motion or just backwards once,on was the lead on the ground?

Thank you for the reply
