1st lemme give you a huge big  bud, hope you enjoy being part of the family.

Now onto this dropshotting thing, like i said earlier on in this or another thread dropshotting was actually something that originated from the states where the sinker gets clipped onto the end of the line below the lure and if it gets stuck you just pull on the line until the sinker comes of and the lure and fish (hopefully) gets retrieved, so the sinker (shot) drops to the bottom hence it being called "dropshot".  Further to this is the fact that it originated in the freshwater fraternaty and in specific Bass angling.  Having said that, here in SA the saltwater anglers refer to what the freshies call jigs or leadheads as dropshotting, but we are the Rianbow nation so we work around it and just add additional reference ito salt or fresh water dropshotting.  Rightfully so, as you noted that this is actually nothing new (the saltwater style).  

Anyhows, the abovementioned actually just tried to explain the RSA's diversity, so that it's better understood why there's so mnay views and opinions on gear related to this particular facet of angling. 

I went out to another tackle shop and again spoke to a guy that does alot of fishing in just about every place and just about in every manner/facet, and he confirmed that the gear I've got is correct (light tackle wise, and not ultra light tackle wise), so I'm ready to go, now just to go find them fishies.

Tell me is shad the only fish that you's target up there or do you's target other species as well?

Hmmmm, Dropshot kit....

Ok, mine is as follows. I haven't used it in the surf yet, but I will in November. I have however used it for Bass fishing. In fact, it is one of only two setups that I use for Bass fishing:

Reel: Shimano 750FB
Rod: Shimano Scimitar 6'6" Medium Fast
14lb (I think) Fireline. But I need to respool.

I want to get Viper Braid to respool it as the abrasion resistance. I know some guys that used it for Tiger Fishing and they were impessed, so I wanna try it.

The 750FB reel that I use only spools on about 110m of Fireline, so putting any backing on it will waste space.

Now, as this is an opinion on dropshotting gear thread I thought, perhaps the Marshie's, Reefer's and the likes could tell me if my lures are sufficient for a dropshotting trip down to the big blue pond (looking at afour day trip)..... do I have enough, is the Q?

Nope, but I do have a Rapala X-rap in that colour, and the Yum Houdini Shad is very similar to the pearl-blue shad, here's a bad quality pic....

Will, go get the pearl blue one's B4 my trip.

Pearl Blue 3" is my goto bait ! I don't know if its the glitter that comes off in the water that does the trick or not.

But yeah - you got a beeeg arsenal there - hope you clean up at least 20 species on your trip !

Here's another fluke-like lure I've bought (also a bad pic) doesn't show all the thin streaky glitter in the see-through part of the lure....

Thats a lot a bait, just to add to that ... i came upon a rather interesting lure made by Dimiki,

Dimiki Pac Bing 4 Clear Black, they come seven in a pack, only seen two colours though the two that i bought are (clear black and red blue)

The interesting aspect of these lures is that there is a tube that runs inside the length of the bait, now one has the ability to inject oil (salmon, tuna) into the lure thus scenting the lure twice (original scent on the lure) and when it runs out just repeat. i think this could definately help if the fish are not on the bite, the added scent could do the trick..

I would also ensure that i have enough bait on my first dropshot trip, i'd take every type of lure designed for dropshot just in case, you never know.. Nice collection, i thought i had enough bait, but it does not look like it NOW..

That's my problem,:help I am sure that each man has some level of female hormones in them, now which female hormones exactly depends on various things,:cens and let's not go there, but speaking for myself:clow I am convinced I got the lions share :fst:when it comes to shopping for fishing tackle, gear, lures and other much needed:spite fishing apparel......::craz::craz::craz and then there's still time left to upgrade the dropshot lure section before i splash into the big blue very soon.....

Thanx, there's still a couple of other lures that I wanna take with, a couple of my Rapala's and Strike Pro's and then a box or two of my Bass baits ito Fluke's (baitfish immitations).

Yeah, I should get some fishy's on the end of the line, if not I'll try again in Dec and again in March coming.
