Hi Guys

I have bought the Witblitz i was eyeing. Its a 1995 model with two 1995 25 hp mercs on. The compression is good and gearboxes have no water in. They run well and the motors were fully serviced by the dealer. It only has 30% flotation as a dealer installed a new deck 2 years ago and it was only used in the river. I also need to move the centre console back to the middle as it is mounted on the starboard side. A mate of mine reckons its not such a big job as it looks like sika was used so u use piano wire to cut it loose like the guys remove a windscreen. It has no fishfinder or GPS. The trailer is galv and looks very good but has rollers which need to be replaced with boards.

Got it for R28k. Is this an okay deal?

Congrats Fishalitis
That sounds like an awesome deal my Witblits in Feb/March 2008 brand new cost 114K with transport from Port Alfred to JHB so 28K sounds Fantastic.
May you get many years of enjoyment and may lots of fish grace your deck
Kindest regards Mouse001

Hi everyone

I,m new to Sealine.

I'm considering buying a 4.3 Witblitz (circa 1995) with the odd name Runabout/ Bass. It comes with a single 50 Yammie. The range were tested some years ago by Ski Boat Magazine.

I/m looking at getting a dual purpose boat, for both fishing (inland) and skiing- a boat which must be light enough so that I myself can lauch /winch her up- but NOT a duck.

Is this the answer?

Howzit Grommit

Welcome. I havent used my wittie yet very much at all as im redoing the deck structure and flotation. Just tested the motors and gave them a good burn. I was somewhat surprised at the handling as my rig has a tendency to roll to the side when turning. Its a great working surface when at anchor or drifting and very stable then like most cats. Personally for skiing i wouldnt buy a wittie. I had a sunsport with a 115 hp which planed and turned like it was on rails. RAther get yourself a deepvee like one of the ones the Angler guys make or even a skivee or something like that.  Not sure what your budget is like. Thats my advice but the more experienced wittie guys like Pat and Mouse will also be a good source of info.

Cheers mate

Hi Grommit
I had a Wittie for 3 years and really magic little boats i had 2*25's on mine and it was very economical they weigh nothing and are a real pleasure to tow and launch.they are great with a skipper and one crew but i found that with 2 crew its a bit tight so ive upgraded to the bigger supercat 520.In my oppinion i wouldnt use it for skiing the reason being that all your weight is at the rear of the boat your motor, skipper and goods in rear hatch(i used to put my cooler box,and extinguishers in it) tanks are normaly under the hatch in front of the console.I however never used mine for skiing but would imagine that the nose will lift plenty because of all the weight at the back plus your skier.besides that like i said they are realy nice boats and i will never run them down. Hope this makes sense.

Hi,

Tony from E/C.

Years ago i had a Wittie, and found it a great and versatile little boat. I sold it mainly for reasons of space and needing a bigger boat for the family, so opted for a big Ace Craft(Which i love to bits).

The handling problems i faced was when moving fast and slacking off power it would feel like it's broaching and the same when running over biggish swell in following water, has anyone experienced the same? Some reading suggests trimming her up and keeping the power on.
Also had the issue with water coming over the back and being a bit heavy. These issues together with the need for a larger rig secured me selling her. However in hindsight, i should have addressed the issues by including a false transom, weight redistribution etc.

Time has marched on kids have grown and started school, so family time has become less and Daddy time has become more, so have recently purchased another wittie with 2x30 yams and the rear transom mod already done.

I've seen another posting where a bloke moved his console forward. For those experienced "Witblitsers", do you think this would be unnecessary or too much ?? Anyone done something similar, and is there some rule to work by on how much forward one should move the console If weight re-distribution does not help with leveling and control.

Cheers
Tony
