Hi Guys

1. Please advise what make and size hooks to use when making the Rietvlei trace.

2. Does braid work better to make the Glei rietvlei with?

3. 90 % of the fish i catch is caught on the bottom hook can the top sliding hook be taken out completely and only the bottom hook used( often the other hook gets stuck in the belly or fins of the Fish)

any advice will be appreciated

Small hooks like riocchi #1 or .7
Bottom hook only will work.
I use the sliding hook to place a floating bait further away from the feed ball to get shy fish, and use a floatie/mealie or floatie/dough combo on the bottom hooklink. I sometimes make the top hooklink longer - especially for soft bottoms.
Make the boom part from a heavy nylon (20lb) and the hooklinks with light nylon (7lb) or braid. Make the boom long and finish with a loop so you can clip it on and do quick change overs. Keep the sliding hook in place with 2 rubber stoppers.

I think you catch at the bottom because the feed is no boubt closer but some times that bottom hook would lay in the feed. but you will catch one on the top because he came late & all the feed is gone & then he sees that thing just hanging there.
