Hi, everyone knows that you are supposed to use only barbless or hooks with their barbs squashed when sliding, however does anybody have any information on the technical issues around squahed barbs as required by SASAA?

When are barbs considered to be squashed? What happens when the barb breaks off during squashing? If disputes arise what criteria does SASAA use to determine if the hooks conform to requirements?

Anyone that has the technical info on this please help me out.

Maybe check SASAA website.

The one way we do it is by taking the hook and puch it threw a piece of paper and then pull it back again. If the barb hooks the piece of paper and tears it then you know it is not correct. This is the quick test method. Otherwize you will have to use a file to file the barbs off.

Hope this helps a bit.
