Hi guys

I will be in Richards bay for a week in April and looking forward to get some good fish. Can any1 help me with some info and tips on dropshotting on the drive-on pier, T-jetty, south pier (have access) and other areas. What type of baits work, tackle , retrieve etc.

Any help will be appreciated

Hi Keith

Rbay is excellent for  dropshot..

South pier use: pearl blue shad 3inch , pearle waterlemon 4inch , Chartuese pepper neon 4 inch ( if you can get the crazy leg ones) Camo worms.

Caught my PB in rbay on dropshot  Greenspot of  5.5kg and GT of  4.7kg

If you going to the south pier.. try the last bit of beach just before you drive onto the pier on the left. Have had quite abit of success there!

Got my PB on dropshot  there on pearl blue 3inch  5.5kg Greenspot just work the beach, plenty Garfish aswell and needlescales

Use to camp over night there few years back... during the day its as safe as houses, theres always people around.

You should speak to locals regarding safety cause i only go every 3month 2 rbay and not always up to date with happenings.

had quite a bit of success on the drive on pier my faverite lures woud be the 4inch mccharthies in olive/pearl goldfish and the chartreuse. the retrieve i like to use is to let the drop shot sink to the bottom then work it in with a fast jerky action. you can also try the pelican island piers.
not much bitting at the moment tho hopefully there will be a few fish around when you down.
